General Appearance
Pulicaria undulata (L.) C.A.Mey. / Homotypic Synonyms: Francoeuria crispa (Forsk.) Cuss., / Infraspecifics: Pulicaria undulata ssp. undulata, it is a perennial plant, up to 25-30 cm tall, aromatic, suffrutescent, very showy, densely glandular, pubescent. Leaves 20-35 (-50) x (5-) 8-12 mm. broadly oblanceolate to ± spathulate, acute undulate-toothed, densely villous and glandular on both surfaces; hairs long, straight. greyish-white. Basal leaves attenuate into a small petiole. auriculate. Upper leaves sessile, semi-amplexicaule. Capitula solitary on 20-40 mm long, slender, somewhat flexuous peduncles, 10-15 (-20) mm in diameter, distinctly radiate, orange yellow. Involucral bracts 3-rowed, narrowly oblanceolate or linear-oblong, acuminate, densely villous. Outer ones up to7mm long, herbaceous. Inner ones up to 12 mm long, scarious. Ray florets many, ligule distinctly exceeding the involucre, patent; basal tube 4-5 mm long, filiform, base inflated, hairy all over; limb 8-10 x 0.5-0.75 (-1) mm, linear-oblong, 3-toothed, under surface and margins hairy. Disc florets corolla 5-6 mm long, tubular, narrowly obconical 5-lobed; lobes narrow, sharply acute, margins somewhat thickened. Cypsela 1.5-2 mm, cylindrical, finely ribbed, sparsely hairy; basal callus oblique, not very distinct; pappus 2-rowed; outer row coronate, toothed at the apex; inner row of c. 15 setae; setae unequal, up to 4.25 mm, scabrid.
