Ptilostemon gnaphaloides (Cirillo) Soják // Infraspecifics: Ptilostemon gnaphaloides ssp. gnaphaloides, it is a shrub, dwarf, up to 30-60 cm. Stems dense tomentose, in the lower parts simple, above 3-5, verticillately branched, terminating into an irregular corymb of 4-6 pedunculate capitula. Leaves sessile, simple, linear, entire, c, 10 x 3 mm. spinulose-mucronate or acuminate at the apex, ± revolute margined. Upper cauline leaves widened at base, with 1-2 stipule-like spinules on each side. Peduncles naked, with a single capitulum. Involucre c. 15-20 mm, sometimes much wider than long, hemispherical, tomentose floccose. Involucral bracts imbricate, linear-acuminate. Inner involucral bracts with apex purple, erect. Outer and median involucral bracts rigid, ereeto-patent. Florets purple, equally lobed. Cypsela 4-6 mm; pappus exceeding the involucre.
