General Appearance

Pseudognaphalium luteoalbum (L.) Hilliard & B.L.Burtt / Homotypic Synonyms: Gnaphalium luteoalbum L., Helichrysum luteoalbum (L.) Rchb., Laphangium luteoalbum (L.) Tzvelev , it is an annual herbs, up to 15-40 cm tall, tap rooted or fibrous-rooted. The stems loosely white tomentose, not glandular. The leaves crowded; internodes 1-5, sometimes to 10 mm; blade narrowly obovate to sub spatulate, 1-3(-6) cm × 2-8 mm. Both surfaces mostly concolorous, to weakly bicolored, usually gray. Flowers are cream, yellow, white, or pink. Cypsela, oblong to mildly oblanceolate, plump to somewhat puckered, sometimes slightly dorsally curved base towards apex, mildly compressed, cross-section elliptic to oblong, 0.5–1 mm long x ca. 0.2 mm wide x ca. 0.1 mm thick. Surface brown, conspicuously dotted with whitish, papilliform hairs, with a light sheen, longitudinal ridges missing or obscured. Pappus of 6–8 white barbellate bristles up to 3 mm long, loosely coherent basally, easily deciduous, detaching in clusters or easily fragmented rings.
