General Appearance

Hypochaeris glabra L., it is an annual herbs 10-30 cm tall, the stems 1 or few, ascending to erect, simple or apically sparsely branched, glabrous, leafless or with few triangular-ovate bracts. Rosette leaves obovate to oblanceolate, 3-5 × 0.5-1.5 cm, leaf blade sinuate-dentate to pinnatipartite, with hispid margins. Peduncles gradually thickened below the capitulum. Capitula solitary, oblong, somewhat cylindrical. Involucral bracts arranged imbricately in several rows. Pappus composed of two rows of hairs; the outer ones scabrous and short, the inner ones longer and sparsely plumose. Achenes pale maroon, fusiform, almost tapering equally at both ends, marked with muricate ribs, very prominent especially in the transition zone between the body and the beak.
