General Appearance
Hyoseris scabra L., it is an annual herb. Leaves (15-) 30-80 x 3-14 mm, patent, narrowly oblanceolate, or oblong, pinnatifid, glabrous or sparsely mealy; petiole winged; lobes ovate, obtuse or acute, ± dentate. Scapes 5-7 (-8), (0.5-) 3.8 (-10) cm, ascending or procumbent, inflatted near the apex below the capitulum, glabrous or sparsely mealy. Involucre 7-10 x 3-5 mm. Involucral bracts usually pale, glabrous or sparsely mealy, in fruit ± erect. Outer involucral bracts c. 2 mm, ovate, acute. Inner involucral bracts 7-10 mm, oblong, lanceolate or linear, acute. Cypsela 7-8 mm. brown, sometime minutely puberulent; outer with a pappus of short hairs; the middle and inner ones with pappus of pale, narrowly linear-lanceolate scales and a few hairs.
