General Appearance

Heteromera philaenorum Maire & Weiller / Homotypic Synonyms: Tripleurospermum philaenorum (Maire & Weiller) Alavi, it is an annual herb, very similar to Heteromera fuscata (Desf.) Pomel / Homotypic Synonyms: Tripleurospermum fuscatum (Desf.) Sch.Bip, in habit but both, stems and leaves canescent with hairs up to 0.6 mm long, spreading, flexuous or curled; leaf lobes acute, callose mucronate; ligules 12-14 x 7-8 mm. Cypselas 4 x 2 mm, yellowish or dark brownish; pappus coroniform or annular, up to 0.7 mm long, thickened near the base and narrowly membranous above; ray cypselas 4-ribbed and disc cypsclas 5-ribbed; ribs usually separated by wide furrows; mucilaginous glands present below the callose pappuson the adaxial ribs.
