General Appearance

Crepis senecioides Delile / Heterotypic Synonyms: Crepis senecioides subsp. filiformis Alavi,  Syn. Crepis radicata var. nuda Pamp.,  ̸ Infra-specific: Crepis senecioides ssp. senecioides, it is an annual herb, slender, small, (5-) 10-30 cm, often branched, usually bristly hirsute-glandular, with slender or stout annual or perennating root-stock; glands dark brown, never turning black at maturity. Leaves mostly rosette, oblong to oblong spathulate, acutely dentate to pinnati-lobed; margins sctulose-hairy. Cauline leaves 1-2, linear or setaceous, entire to distantly toothed, sessile, subamplcxicaule. Capitula 1-4 per branch, pedunculate, (15-) 20-30 flowered. Receptacle foveolate with membranous margins. Involucre (2.5-) 3-5 x (2-) 2.5-3 mm, campanulate, enlarging in fruit up to 8×5 mm and becoming ± urceolate. Outer involucral bracts up to 1̸2 as long as the inner, linear-lanceolate, spreading or recurved in fruit. Inner involucral bracts (7-) 8-9 (-10), linear-oblong, scarious-margined, obtuse, glandular hairy or with a median row of sctulose, dark coloured hairs, inner surface appressed hairy, some slightly indurated at base at maturity and keeled. Ligules yellow concolorous or reddish on the outer face, twice as long as the involucre. Cypsela homo or dimorphic; peripheral cypsela up 10 3 mm (include, beak = 1 mm), whitish, glabrous, smooth, fusiform, tapered above in a small. stout beak; central cypsela up to 5 mm (include, beak 3.25 mm), brown to dark brown, glabrous, fusiform, abruptly attenuate into slender beak, 10-ribbed; ribs finely transversely muricate in the lower half and usually spiculate above; beak scabrid or spiculate in the lower half, slightly expanded above in a circular disc; pappus white 1 or 2-rowed, slightly exserted from the involucre, deciduous.
