General Appearance

Crepis libyca (Pamp.) Babc. / Syn. Crepis lybica (Pamp.) Shabet., it is a perennial, very much like Crepis vesicaria L., but basal leaves in a large rosette, glabrous or pubescent, lyrate cleft. Cauline leaves numerous, clasping the stem. Capitula 1-3 on each branch on long, ± stout peduncles. Involucral up to 13 x 8 mm; hairy pubescent. Outer involucral bracts ovate-lanceolate, with ± broad scarious margins. Inner involucral bracts 13-18, remaining erect in fruiting, with stout, dark coloured glochide hairs in the median row. Cypsela up to 13 mm (include. beak). all beaked, brown, to ribbed; ribs minutely spiculate; beak as long as or twice as long as the body of the cypsela, pappus persistent.
