General Appearance

Atractylis echinata Pomel , it is a perennial, up to 4-7 cm,  caulescent, formed like a small bush; stems few branched, cobwebby becoming glabrous in older parts. Leaves coriaceous, sessile, spreading, hairs in furrows; margins bristly with 4-6 pairs of teeth divided into 24 spines; apex terminate into a subulate spine. Capitula ovoid, 10-20 mm in diam, dioecious by abortion. Supplementary involucral bracts resembling the upper cauline leaves.
