General Appearance

Achillea maritima (L.) Ehrend. & Y.P.Guo / Heterotypic Synonyms:  Otanthus maritimus (L.) Hoffmanns. & Link, it is a perennial or subshrub. Rhizomatous forming large tufted clumps. Stems 15-25 (-50) cm, densely white-lanate, very leafy, woody, ascending. Leaves (5-) 10-20 x 3-7.5 mm, sessile oblong-lanceolate, entire or crenate; margin obscurely serrate; apex acute; base semiamplexicaule. Capitula globose, in clusters of 3-8, Involucre 0.75-1.25 cm in diam.; involucral bracts 4-5  x 2-3 mm, ovate; outer densely lanate, the inner glabrous. Paleae 5-6 x 2.5-3 mm, ovate-lanceolate, lanate. Florets yellow.  Cypsela c. 4 mm (includ. persistent corolla base).
