General Appearance
Ornithogalum pyrenaicum L., it is a bulbous geophyte, glabrous herb. Bulb ± ovoid, c. 3 cm across, tunics brownish, membranous. Leaves 3-6 per plant, linear. ± canaliculate, attenuating above, 30-50 x 0.9-1.5 cm. Scape 30-80 cm long, many-flowered. Bracts lanceolate to triangular-lanceolate, whitish, membranous, longer than pedicels at flowering, 1-1.5 cm long; pedicels 1.5-3 cm long. Perianth ± stellate. Tepals white inside with green band and whitish margins outside, 0.8-1.2 x 1.5-2.5 cm, outer tepals linear lanceolate, inner lanceolate. Stamens 0.5-0.7 cm long; filaments flat with acuminate tips. Anthers yellow. Ovary ovoid, green, c. 3 x 2 mm; style c, 4 mm long, stigma capitate. Capsule ± ovoid, c 10 x 4 mm. Seeds ± ovoid, black in colour. c. 3 mm.
