General Appearance

Solenostemma argel (Delile) Hayne ̸ Heterotypic Synonyms: Solenostemma oleifolium (Nectoux) Bullock & E.A.Bruce ex Maire  it is an erect shrub, up to 60-100 cm tall, with many branches from the base, branches velvety pubescent. Leaves fleshy sub sessile, ovate-oblong to elliptic, velvety pubescent. Umbels axillary, short peduncled. Calyx 5-parted. Corolla white, 5-parted, 7-10 mm broad, with erect, oblong-linear lobes. Corona cup-shaped, with 5, short, rounded lobes, surround ding the base of the long stipitate gynostegium. Pollen masses club-shaped, flattened, pendulous. Stigma 5-angled. Follicle oblong-ovate, smooth, very hard.
