General Appearance
Opopanax chironius (L.) W.D.J.Koch , it is a stout, erect perennial, up to 3 m tall; stem solid, terete smooth. Basal leaves large, 2-pinnate, lobes 4-25 cm long, obliquely cordate to cuneat at base, crenate serrate, stellate-hairy beneath and on the petioles. Umbels compound, upper leaves simple, or reduced to inflated pelioles; bracts and braclcoles few. setaceous. Flowers yellow. Fruits 6-7 mm long, elliptical with narrow (1 mm), thickened, whitish border.
