General Appearance
Allium roseum L., it is a bulbous geophyte, bulb 1-3. ovate. usually with numerous small bublets; outer tunics hard, pitted, brown in colour, with a coriaceous papery scale. Leaves 2-4, linear glabrous, shorter than scape; leaf sheaths 3-7 cm long. Scape terete 25-40 cm high; spathe splits open into one to two persistant valves; umbel hemispherical 2-4 cm across, many flowered; pedicels erect 1-3 cm long, sometimes subtended by bracteoles; flowers campanulate, segments white tinged with pink to pinkish, 6-9 mm long; stamens included; anthers yellow. Capsule 4 mm.
