General Appearance

Allium paniculatum L., it is a bulbous geophyte, bulb solitary ovate, usually with small bulbils included inside a white to dark brownish, membranous tunics; leaves semi cylindrical, attenuate, usually shorter than the scape. Scape circular 10-95 cm long, spathe splitting into two long persistent, membranous valves; umbel hemispherical, multi-flowered, the outer flowers sterile and slightly shorter than the inner fertile ones. Pedicels usually bracteolate; perianth campanulate, 4-8 mm long, tepals, oblong, obtuse, white-rose. purplish and brown-reddish, with green keel, stamens equal coonate at the base, inner tricuspidate shorter than tepals; style exerted, stigma inflated. Capsule, narrowed at both ends.
